Codicote 0 - 6 Wodson Park

Wodson blitz Codicote 6-0 in the opening round of the Herts Senior Centenary Trophy.

Anthony Anstead opened the floodgates in the ninth minute when he headed home from a pin point Robbie Green cross. The forward then provided an artistic assist for Ashley Wackers to net the second on the half-hour. Four minutes later Wackers combined with Anstead to make it 3-0. Anstead slotted home the fourth just after the interval as the skipper completed his hat-trick.

Robbie Green delivered a perfect wide free kick to set up a Jack Friend header for the fifth. Six minutes from time Anstead netted again from an unselfish assist by Wackers.

If that reads like a procession of Anstead-inspired goals then that is just what it was.

Codicote looked like the team from a step below from the start. Wodson had complete and utter control yet they barely broke out into a meaningful sweat.

Munt’s men have reached the last 16 of this competition for the last 2 years and a repeat was always on the cards with something to spare this time.

The manager made three changes from the side that had been beaten by Buckingham in the week.

Matthew Taylor, Robbie Green and Craig Walker returned at the expense of Kieron King, Joe Collins & James Sturgeon. It seemed all a little too easy for Wodson and the result of the game was really decided before the half time break. Despite the scoreline, this was not ultra-elegant Wodson; it was the more an emphatic and efficient version.

But they had done everything asked of them – and more.
