Wodson Park 'A' 4 v 2 Cottered

Wodson park ‘A’ Team won 4-2 on Saturday but left it very late, after conceding a sloppy early goal in the first half and failing to make any real cut chances the best of which falling to James Kember around the 40th minute which failed to test the keeper out.

Again Wodson started the second half sloppy and conceded another weak goal just after the break. At this point the game looked out of reach and a huge uphill battle to get back into it let alone grab a victory. But in the 62nd minute a great ball dinked in from Will Sadler (making his debut for the club) was met by team Captain Paul Coates who rose up like a salmon out of water and headed the ball into the back of the net with the tightest of angles…. and the comeback was on!

’Get the ball’ was the cry from the determined Wodson side who were up for the fight of their lives. With continued pressure on there tired, opponents Wodson found there deserved equalizer 9 mins later when Paul Coates and Will Sadler combined again this time from a corner following some great movement in the box by James Kember which confused the oncoming goalkeeper and defender and allowed Coates a free header at the back post.

It was game on! and with the last twenty mins really opening up for both sides this one could of gone either way. However it was Wodson who eventually took the lead in the 92nd min following a route one drop kick from Paul Sharkey which ended up being a fantastic through ball into Sam Palmer who coolly finished to put Wodson up 3 – 2 and in the lead for the first time. This should have been enough to secure victory but Wodson weren’t finished there with Ade Chard’s emphatic through ball pass into Sam Palmer and with a almost repeat of his first he placed the ball comfortably past the oncoming keeper and with that it was game over!
