The History of Wodson Park Football Club

Wodson Park Football Club was formed in 1997 by current Chairman John Murphy, and is based at Wodson Park Recreation Centre in Ware.

The club consisted of one side and entered its first competitive season in Division 3 of the Hertford & District League where we completed a league and cup double in our first season.

Following this, consecutive promotions took place which included in the 1999/2000 season an unbeaten league Division 1 campaign dropping only 3 points. This record still stands to this day and obviously led to the club gaining promotion to the Premier Division.

During this time, the club added a Reserve Team and an 'A' Team into the league and both were successful in their respective league and cup competitions.

In the 2006/2007 season, the 1st Team entered the Herts Senior County League where they finished a creditable top half finish in Division 1.

The 2007/2008 saw the Reserve side enter the Herts Senior County League Reserve Division 2 leaving the 'A' Team remaining in the Hertford & District League Division 1.

This season saw the 1st Team finishing runners-up to Baldock Town in the Herts Senior County League Division 1. A decision was made at this time not to accept promotion to the Premier Division.

An application was made by the club to enter the 1st team and the Reserve team into the Molten Spartan South Midlands League. This was successful with the 1st Team entering into Division 2 and the Reserves playing in the Reserve Division 2 East.

For the 2009/2010 season, Wodson Park FC agreed a deal for the 1st team to groundshare with neighbours Ware FC.
