11/02/11 - Wodson Park 1 - 4 London Lions

Wodson Park succumbed to a second home defeat in a week on Wednesday evening when London Lions took the spoils following a James Gershfield hat trick. Wodson started well with Jason Coughlan heading narrowly wide from a Pete Sawyer corner, before Jack Friend brought a good save from Lions keeper Danny Berliner with the stopper reacting well to Friend’s first time shot. The first chance for the visitors arrived midway through the first half when Kieron King was caught dallying on the ball losing out on the edge of his own box, the ball was then fed across to Andy Glynne whose drive was well held by Craig Walker. Anthony Anstead, playing despite breaking a nose on Saturday, was unlucky with an effort from a seemingly impossible angle the ball just missing the far post and going wide. The visitors did take the lead on the stroke of half time when Walker came out of his box to successfully make a challenge, but his defensive line failed to clear the ball despite ample opportunity allowing James Gershfield to fire into the bottom corner of the net from the edge of the box. At the beginning of the second period the lively Robbie Green was denied by the alertness of Berliner who was out quickly to smother his shot. Walker was again far from goal in the build up to the second goal, but this time was culpable as he failed to deal with a bouncing ball under pressure, with the ball again ending up at the feet of Gershfield who scored despite the best efforts of a recovering Joe Wilkie on the line. Anstead once again got his name onto the score sheet and injected a bit of hope to the home side when he beat the offside trap and fired through Berliner for a well taken goal. The hope last just ten minutes however as the game was put beyond doubt with two failures of the Wodson offside trap, firstly Sawyer failed to advance as much as the remainder of the back line and played on the prolific Gershfield who slid the ball past Walker in the one on one situation. Five minutes later it was the turn of Glynne to be given a free run at Walker’s goal and he side footed into the bottom corner to ensure the three points for his side and to leave Kris Munt and Stewart Margolis scratching their heads as to where the early season form has gone.

07/02/11 - Wodson Park 1 - 3 Crawley Green

A well organised Crawley Green side took all three points from Wodson Park on Saturday as the home sides run of just one win in eight games continues. On a blustery afternoon, the game became quite a scrappy affair at times with neither side really being able to create much in the way of chances. The first opportunity that did arise was for the home side when Anthony Anstead got in behind the Crawley Green defence but the ball would not come down for him and by the time he got a shot away the angle was too tight and he hit the side netting. At the other end Matthew Taylor spared Craig Walker’s blushes, clearing off the line from Robbie O’Dell’s shot after Walker had flapped at a cross into the box. Walker redeemed himself soon after when Taylor made a mistake sending a weak header back towards his keeper that O’Dell latched onto but the home stopper was out quickly to narrow the angle and got enough on the ball to divert it onto the post and behind for a corner. It was from this corner that the opening goal arrived with Gareth Marnaman sliding the ball across the edge of the box to Kyal McNulty who hit a perfect drive that bent away from Walker and flew into the top corner of the net. Ten minutes into the second half the lead was doubled when Stuart Strange was allowed time on the left to cut inside and fire off a shot that seemed to deceive Walker and nestled in the bottom corner. The game was put beyond doubt twenty minutes from time when Crawley Green were awarded a free kick by the corner flag, which was whipped in for Mark Smith to crash a header against the bar only for the ball to fall for Strange, who was unmarked, to head home from close range to complete his brace. The deficit was reduced just four minutes later when a long clearance from Walker was not dealt with by the visiting back four allowing Anstead in behind to lob Sam Leggett in the Crawley goal with an effort that came off his knee. Anstead scored whilst nursing a broken nose from an earlier challenge with the keeper. A minute after the goal Anstead almost doubled his tally with a vicious drive from the edge of the box that Leggett got across to well to beat away.

07/02/11 - Elizabeth Allen 6 - 3 Wodson Park 'A'

On a very open pitch Wodson Park never really got hold of the game,in the difficult conditions - and the collective work rate was never intense enough and fell behind after 20 mins with a goal that you could see coming - but then drew level with a well taken penalty from Paul Sharkey -did not give a hint to the off day that was to follow for The Wodson keeper - So with 10 mins too see out the half and maybe re- group - Wodson found themselves 2-1 down when a well struck shot went straight through the goal keepers hands - straight after the break things got worse as Wodson went 3-1 down - but 15 mins and there was a chink of light when Wodson got there second penalty of the match - and Paul Sharkey stood up and to show what a off day it was for him as He proceeded to miss the penalty - very quickly it became 4-1 and changes were made Wodson went to a 3-4-3 in a attempt to shake it up but with 10 mins to go found themselves 5-1 down - but then Elliott Charnock and James Halsey scored twice in a few mins to make it 5-3 and with Wodson chasing the game and time running out Elizabeth Allan scored a break away goal to seal it - Manager Nick Cave Said " I'm sure everyone is disappointed in the way we have lost our league unbeaten run - but now its time to stand up and be counted.

01/02/11 - AFC Dunstable 3 - 1 Wodson Park

For the second week running late goals have cost Wodson Park points, but whereas on the previous Saturday Wodson could feel aggrieved this week Dunstable’s victory had been coming after a second half the home side dominated. On a very hard pitch, from an overnight frost, Wodson started well against their high flying opponents and kept the ball well in the early stages, but neither keeper were tested as both sides grew accustomed to the conditions. In fact the first clear cut chance led to the opening goal and it was the visiting side who scored it with Daniel Burke’s ball into the box being brought down by Steve Horsey who set for Ashley Wackers to take a touch and lash the bouncing ball into the net for a well taken goal. The lively, pacy, Hayden Wills was causing Lee Wilson problems all afternoon and when he got in behind the left back and squared for Bernie Christie the forwards shot was well held by Craig Walker. A moment of shared madness between Walker and Kieron King when they both tried to play what Gary Megson once described as ‘tippy-tappy football’ in front of their own goal led to King being shut down and drawing a foul from the centre back. Lee Bogoyne powerfully drove the free kick goal wards forcing Walker into a smart stop down to his left and with Wills following up the keeper was quickly up on his feet to save the follow up. From the resulting corner Dunstable levelled with Jack Downes rising above Wilson to head home at the near post. Dunstable could have put the game beyond the visitors before half time but wayward finishing and some solid goalkeeping were the reasons they didn’t. Firstly Christie raced through the middle of the park, after Tyler Hatherley had overplayed and got caught on the ball. With the centre forward bearing down on goal Walker stood up well to make an outstanding one on one save. Minutes later Christie did well to find space down the left to cross finding Downes, whose free header was straight at Walker. Hatherley came close to restoring the Wodson lead when his shot from just outside the box sailed narrowly over. In the second half, Walker was certainly the busier of the keepers and he was brought into action early saving well to his left from Wills shot. Courteney Massey saw a shot from 20 yards out crash back off the bar before Wills had the ball in the net but by stroking home Christie’s already goal bound effort the midfielder invalidated the goal by being offside. Walker twice saved well from Christie first turning away his shot after he had got goal side of Matthew Taylor and then when the forward was allowed a free header from close range Walker somehow managed to keep the ball out saving with his feet in the middle of a star jump ala Peter Schmeichal. The hosts continued to press for a winner with Terry Billy hitting the post, but Wodson nearly nicked a goal against the run of play when Horsey put Dunstable keeper Nick Gardner under pressure and the ball fell for Anthony Anstead who put his effort over with the goal gaping. The deadlock was finally broken when Walker was put under pressure as he come to punch a long ball into the box with the ball falling to Ryan Quinn who lobbed it back over and in. The game was put beyond doubt in added time when Wills went on a jinking run past a number of Wodson defenders before slotting past Walker to score.

01/02/11 - Watton at Stone 3 - 3 Wodson Park 'A'

Yet again a slow start and to be honest I can't say after 20 mins it got better which is the pattern of games for so much of this season - to be honest the first half was poor and a goal against the run of play when Ade Chard broke free but was thwarted by a fine save - the rebound fell to Dave Speller 10 Yards out who slotted home with his right foot - yes! his right foot - the rest of the half continued with wodson a yard off the pace - passing the buck and giving the ball away in poor areas - Watton levelled though a unfortunate Kyle Richmond Own Goal but if it had not been for some last ditch defending and some good saves from Paul Sharkey - wodson would never of come in at half- time with the scores level 1-1 - The second half was much improved the introduction of Elliott Charnock at half - time and the advantage of the pitch conditions - even though a soft penalty was given against wodson and a paul sharkey save kept it all square and wodson restored there lead when the ref played a good advantage and Will Sadler fired in a fine strike from 20 yards - and rather unbelievably wodson went further in front on the hour when Ade Chard was put through again and the keeper could not stop the goal this time the introduction of James Halsey and James Kember - seemed to steady the ship and even though watton got another penalty that this time was put away - at 3-2 with 15 mins to play the manager felt confident that the result would be ours when Will Sadler left the cross bar shaking after hitting a 35 yard volley against it - still felt it was going to be our day - but the last punt up field of the game was left to bounce and not sent back from where it came - it broke through to the watton forward with the wishful cries of offside - he finished well sliding it past the keeper 3-3 final kick of the game. Manager Nick Cave said - "this is now the third time this season we have dropped points in last seconds - we really must learn to use our heads and see out the last few mins - those 3 dropped points could be the difference between promotion or not come the end of the season".

24/01/11 - Wodson Park 1 - 1 Berkhamsted

Wodson Park were denied what would have been a famous victory with division pace setters Berkhamsted scoring a scrappy equaliser deep into added time. Wodson Park set about playing some of the best football they have played this season in the first half with Tyler Hatherley forcing an early save from Berko keeper Eddie Farmer following a good move down the right wing. At the other end the lively Tony Burnett burst into the box and forced a good save from Craig Walker getting down low to his left to turn the ball around the post. Ashley Wackers came close for the hosts dragging his effort narrowly wide of the far post from a very tight angle. The end to end nature of the game dictated the next chance would fall for the visitors and sure enough it did when Burnett set the ball off for Adam Mead who struck a fierce first time drive that was expertly tipped over by the on-form Walker. Berkhamsted superior height was a constant threat at set pieces and a gaggle of corners midway through the half eventually resulted in Matt Wardle’s header deflecting off his own player before Wodson could clear. It fell to Anthony Anstead to break the deadlock when he was alive to a hesitant under hit pass in the middle of the park and raced through on goal to side foot past Farmer with aplomb for a well taken individual goal. The goal galvanised Wodson and they made most of the running for the rest of the half. Anstead again headed straight at the keeper after getting on the end of a perfectly placed George Friend deep cross. Anstead also had the perfect chance to put Wodson into an even more commanding position when Hatherley broke down the left and played a slide rule pass into Anstead who somewhat snatched at his shot and fired wide when he may have had time to take a touch. Wodson attempted to close the game out in the second period and were relatively successful with chances at both ends being few and far between. Berkhamsted felt they could have been awarded a penalty when Courtenay Francis went down in the box but referee Mr Walshe waved away the protests and sent the visitors assistant manager to the stand for taken his argument too far. Anstead again could have sealed it in the final ten minutes but despite doing everything right his drive was somehow tipped away by the athleticism of Farmer. With the final whistle in sightt Louis Rose gave away a soft free kick on the half way line and the ball was swung into an over-loaded penalty box and fell for Anthony Page where the ball struck his knee and trickled agonisingly past Walker and into the far corner of the net.

17/01/11 - Wodson Park 2 - 0 Buckingham Athletic

Wodson Park picked up their first win of 2011 at the second attempt with this two goal victory over Buckingham. The opening to the game was somewhat scrappy as both sides tried to get accustomed to the heavy pitch, with the visitors having the first chance when Frankey Tarrant got onto a ball in behind and lifted his effort over Craig Walker but wide of the target. It was midway through the half when Wodson created their first opportunity when a deep Tyler Hatherley cross was headed back across goal for Ashley Wackers who forced a smart save from Jack Bridges in the Buckingham goal. Hatherley was again close to opening the scoring when he burst into the box dragging wide under pressure, with Wodson appeals for a penalty turned away. A minute later Anthony Anstead was played in by a weak Buckingham back pass but again Bridges was alert to it coming off his line to save with his legs. Hatherley stung the hands of Bridges with a free kick the stopper could only fumble into the path of Steve Horsey but the keeper was alive to the threat and saved well from the follow up. On the stroke of half time a miss-hit Buckingham corner caused panic in the Wodson box but the ball could not be forced home despite the large goal mouth scramble. After the break the visitors had a couple of half chances they could not make the most of missing the target on both occasions, whilst at the other end it was Hatherley causing all the problems, driving narrowly over with a powerful effort from the edge of the box after cutting in from the right. Simon Hodges almost scored an unlikely opener when his cross bent away from his intended target and towards the goal rebounding back out off the cross bar. Adam Bone had fired over the bar at one end before the dead lock was broken through Louis Rose with virtually his first touch after coming on. He struck a long range shot that deceived Bridges bouncing away from him and into the corner of the net. Five minutes later the game was put beyond doubt when Anstead raced clear of the defence and when faced with just Bridges to beat fired confidently into the corner of the net for a well taken goal. For the dying moments Wodson were able to keep possession and rather comfortably hold out to the final whistle.

17/01/11 - Wodson Park 'A' 3 - 4 waltham Abbey

Where to start on a tough day where a influx of players made the manager earn his corn - with tough decisions made - the game started with the normal slow start and for the first 15/20 Abbey were the better team but slowly Wodson got into there stride and in to the game with a goal that Joe Wilkie looped over a stranded keeper gave wodson a 1-0 lead but the lead was short lived when a mix up and a failure to clear and the sharp Abbey forward made wodson pay 1-1 HT - in the second half wodson continued to dominate with Ade Chard hitting the post on the turn the lead was restored through a Paul Sharkey Penalty on the hour and wodson continued to push but with 15 mins to go a good finish in to the bottom corner made it 2-2 there was still time for chances at both ends as the game evened out as players got tired Abbey hit the post in to extra time - with the ball bouncing round the box Elliott Charnock hooked the ball over his shoulder and into the net 3-2 but again wodson could not hold on to the lead when a poor clearance fell to a Abbey player - and within a minute or so it was back to all square - second half of extra time and abbey took the lead for the first time a unsighted sharky was beaten by a speculative tired shot from the edge of the box and as if in slow motion squeezed into the corner - but wodson did not give up and to be honest hit the post and cross bar and missed two or three chances when it was easier to score - but Abbey held out to knock wodson out Manager Nick Cave said " I felt we gave it our all and all players in the squad did there bit - but missed chances and errors in bad places cost us dear"

10/01/11 - Buntingford Wanderers 2 - 6 Wodson Park 'A'

Staring the new year with a full squad (16 players for this game) and a win - is all the management asked for - there will be much tougher tests ahead - And the performance was very much in keeping with a long break and Christmas Indulgence - so first half goals Two from Ade Chard and One from Will Sadler - gave the half- time 3-1 score line a healthy look - asked to step up the game and the pressure in the second half - but with the heavy xmas legs and a heavy pitch with the blinding sun is was very much the same as the first half and with goals from Luke Martin - Gerry Gough and Luke Morris the full-time score line of 6-2 was double that of half-time - Manager Nick cave said " of course i'm pleased that we started off the new year with a win and glad to get the first game out the way but the performance will have to be stepped up considerably if we want to get a positive result next week in the cup "

04/01/11 - Wodson Park 1 - 3 St Albans City Reserves

Too many mistakes cost Wodson Park again as they gifted St Albans a victory in a game that the hosts had maybe the better of the play. The home side were on the back foot after just two minutes when Rob Quatromini's cross took a wicked bounce and spun like a Shane Warne leg-break deceiving Craig Walker and bouncing off his shoulder and into the net. The rest of the first half saw the home side enjoy a majority of possession but a failure to convert into chances. Tyler Hatherley had a hopeful effort sail over before Anthony Anstead forced an easy save from Aiden Kelly. Wodson began the second half in a positie manner with Hatherley breaking into the box and pulling back across goal for Anstead and Pete Sawyer but neither could reach the cross. The St Albans lead was doubled when Craig Walker fluffed a clearance straight towards Jack Ashcroft who squeezed the ball between two defenders to score. The lively Quattromini, arguably the engine of the visitors, was presented with a good chance but shot wide from the edge. The game was put beyond doubt when the hosts defence again fell asleep allowing Ben Luck to break down the left and cross for an unmarked Richard Maton who headed home from close range. Wodson came close to reducing the deficit a minute later when Ally Waldron got onto a ball over the top and drove back across goal but Anstead could not get on the end. The third goal gave the Conference South second string a renewed impetus and when Wodson failed to clear their lines the ball fell to Alexis Nicholas who shot just wide of the angle. Nicholas soon afterwards out muscled Sawyer and rounded Walker but hit the outside of the post from a tight angle. Anstead forced Kelly into a save with a weak effort from the edge of the box but the visiting stopper turned the effort away. Wodson did find the net, with a goal ultimately too little too late. Anstead fed in Hatherley with his shot saved by Kelly but the rebound bouncing up into the path of Anstead who headed home to score.

15/12/10 - London Colney 2 - 1 Wodson Park

For the second time in four days Wodson Park were downed at London Colney this time losing league points in the process. As on Saturday this was a lively encounter and the hosts came close early on when Mark Paradise smashed the ball against the bar following a corner. Wodson then had three good chances within a minute with Tyler Hatherley intercepting a poor Greg Shaw pass and firing straight at Mark Whittamore before Ashley Wackers shot from a tight angle was cleared off the line. Finally Glen Holman cut in from the right pulling back for Louis Rose to flick narrowly wide of the far post. The deadlock was broken when Dan McCaffrey's cross sailed over the head of Craig Walker and nestled in the far corner of the net. Ten minutes before the break Anthony Anstead bundled his way through three tackles before firing goal wards with his effort beaten out by Whittamore. At the start of the second half Rose fired over from the edge of the box before at the other end Ricky Perks fired wide under pressure. Both Russell Gallagher and Trevor Stevens came close as the hosts looked to extend their lead. Hatherley's trickery was creative for the visitors and following some more skill he fed in Anstead who was denied by the sharpness of the once again impressive Whittamore. Wodson were becoming vunerable to balls over the top as they searched for a leveller and one such played in Sam Mitchell who rounded a hesitant Walker before rolling the ball into the now unguarded net. The two goal advantage lasted just two minutes as the award of a free kick on the edge of the London Colney area brought about a cheeky Hatherley goal as he put his quickly taken effort into the bottom corner of the net with the home side still attempting to organise their defence. Soon after this Colney felt they could have been awarded a penalty when Mitchell again beat Walker to the ball and went over but no penalty was given. Ricky Perks did draw a penalty moments later when he was brought down by Jason Coughlan, but Mitchell's penalty was well saved by Walker diving to his left. Ten minutes from time the tenacity of Rose won him the ball and his cross was met by Anstead who drew a sensational double save from Whittamore when the forward seemed certain to score. Rose was again played in and forced Whittamore into another save, before an Anstead shot was blocked and Wackers follow up went wide. Hatherley was again keen in attack and won a ball back to play in Pete Sawyer who shot straight at Whittamore. Gallagher could have secured the game in stoppage time but a good double save from Walker prevented a good chance.

13/12/10 - London Colney 3 - 1 Wodson Park

London Colney triumphed in this all South Midlands Division 1 encounter to progress to a home quarter final against Metropolitan Police Bushey. After a scrappy opening to the game the first shot on target gave the hosts a lead midway through the first half. The ball was half cleared to Trevor Stevens who struck a powerful swerving and dipping shot that deceived Craig Walker dropping wickedly under the bar. The visitors got their first chance when Anthony Anstead played in Peter Sawyer whose shot from the edge of the box was comfortably held by the solid Mark Whittamore diving down his left. A Sam Wilkinson wide free kick was flicked wide of the far post by the head of Stevens before they doubled their advantage with the clock ticking into added time when they broke quickly from a Wodson Park corner. Ross Clemo looked to have the better of Russell Gallagher before the full back slipped on the slippery surface allowing the forward through on goal for a one on one chance that he made no mistake with converting into the bottom corner. Wodson came out in the second half looking a rejuvenated side and halved the deficit when Tyler Hatherley fired through a crowded penalty box to score. Wodson thought they had levelled the scores when Robbie Green swung a free kick into the box, with the ball only half cleared to Ally Waldron. His shot seemed top corner bound until Whittamore stuck up a hand and turned the ball around the post. Wodson were frustrated at not being able to turn possession into chances and allowed the home side back into the contest. Dan McCaffrey saw his shot from distance beaten out by Walker, Frankie Jowle's follow up was straight at the keeper. Anstead found himself in behind the London Colney defence but shooting with his right foot when he may have been best adviced to go with his left he dragged the effort wide of the far post. A Hatherley free kick sailed narrowly over the bar before the game was put beyond doubt. A free kick from the left was not dealt with by Walker, and with Jack Friend attempting an overhead clearance Richard Perks put his head in bravely and managed to divert the ball into the net despite injuring himself in the process.

13/12/10 - Hertford Celtic 3 - 2 Wodson Park 'A'

04/12/10 - Wodson Park 'A' 5 - 2 Baldock Cannon Reserves

After such a great start in our last game you think we would of learnt the importance of a good start - afraid we started very badly yet again and after 15 mins could of been 4-0 down but found ourselves only 1-0 down and we then slowly started to get into the game and a goal by Ben Porter to finish a good move made it 1-1 then again we let it slip by not clearing our lines when we have the chance and the ball was bundled in after Baldocks 4or 5 corner in a row but we bounced back again when a deflected ball fell for Ben Porter to volley into the top corner 2-2 and Wodson took the lead just before Half time with a well placed free kick my Lee Wilson - in the second half hard work and good play kept Baldock at bay and wodson got a hold on the game and made the half there's adding to there victory margin Robbie Green and Elliott Charnock scoring goals in the second half.

22/11/10 - Wodson Park 2 - 3 (aet) Risborough Rangers

Wodson Park were dumped out of the Challenge Trophy following this extra time defeat at second division Risborough Rangers. The hosts came close to taking an early advantage when Martin Griggs attemped an audacious lob over Dan Aldous in the Wodson goal clearing the keeper but not the pitch as the ball bounced high and came back off the bar with some of the hosts supporters already celebrating. Robbie Green had had a shot from the edge of the box deflected wide before a controversial decision saw Risborough's Joel Read sent off for a late challenge on Glen Holman on the half way line. With the home side still reeling from the sending off Tyler Hatherly set about a jinking run into the box before he was felled and referee Chris Turner gave the hosts further consternation when he pointed to the spot. The recently prolific Ashley Wackers stepped up to take the spot kick but smashed the effort against the crossbar. The missed penalty galvanised the home side who saw Griggs volley over from the edge of the box, before Lewis Dean gave them the lead when he latched onto a ball over the top to lob Aldous and give Risborough a deserved lead.Read more

15/11/10 - Wodson Park 2 - 0 Bedford Town Reserves

Wodson Park had a welcome win over Bedford Town on Saturday afternoon. Tyler Hatherly scored five minutes before half time and Ashley Wackers secured victory after 75 minutes with a sublime finish and in between the visitors had to survive significant pressure from the home side. Joe Collins and Peter Sawyer forced fine saves in the opening half-hour but, after the break, Dan Aldous topped that by foiling Bedford twice as they pressed hard for the equaliser. A Louis Rose tackle drew derision from the crowd late on but it did not affect the result. Wodson had toughed it out to record a significant victory in the most trying of circumstances and at the same time proved a point to themselves. The manager made one change from the side beaten by Kings Langley on Wednesday night with Jack Friend making way for Matthew Taylor. It felt like a crossroads game for Munt’s side. Wednesday night’s defeat had left them in need of a win Saturday – any colour, any kind – to get back into the top half and the mix for promotion. Mathematically they would still be in the hunt but, mentally, a defeat would be hard to cure. Read more

Anstead slotted home the fourth just after the interval as the skipper completed his hat-trick. Robbie Green delivered a perfect wide free kick to set up a Jack Friend header for the fifth. Six minutes from time Anstead netted again from an unselfish assist by Wackers. If that reads like a procession of Anstead-inspired goals then that is just what it was. Read more

02/11/10 - Wodson Park 'A' team Continue there unbeaten run with another draw

Wodson set out with a game plan and a depleted squad, just 4 starters from the previous week and one of those was the keeper. So with a 12 man squad which included the manger Nick Cave and Two Goalkeepers, a well organised and hard fought game came alive on the hour mark when Ashley Campbell and Ben Porter combined on the edge of the Cottered Area and Ben Porter finished for his first goal of the season. Then to be honest with legs getting tired it was very much backs against the wall as a number of chances including a missed penalty went begging for cottered. Just when it seemed that Wodson had ridden the storm, the referee for some reason only known by himself added 7.5 mins of added time and on the 7th min a miss hit shot squeezed into the corner for Cottered to level things up. Manager Nick Cave said " he was proud of his players, they couldn't of given any more"

Wodson pulled one back before half time as a cross field ball from Joe Collins was collected and finished by Ali Waldron. This gave the away some hope and a further goal just after half time from Ashley Wackers, after a great flowing move, instilled panic in the Buckingham ranks. The third seem destined to come but as the momentum continued with Wodson the Buckingham skipper O’Callaghan made sure of the win with his third from another set piece to complete the win for the home side.

Wodson were in the ascendancy now and looked like they could go on and win the game; however a host of spurned chances would come back to haunt them. The killer blow came with six minutes remaining when Daniel Stanton finished after a rare London Lions attack against the run of play extending their unbeaten run to 11 games.

In scenes reministant of the film 300 It was literally Royston attack vs the Wodson back four who did well considering the constant onslaught, Dane Dyer and David Speller did there upmost but the numbers game won in the end. Strong words from Herman Dyer at halftime ensured a much better second half showing, but the damage had already been done, Luke Martin scored a late consolation goal to at least stop a white wash.

24/10/10 - Wodson park ‘A’ Team continue there run of positive results!

Wodson park ‘A’ Team won 4-2 on Saturday but left it very late, after conceding a sloppy early goal in the first half and failing to make any real cut chances, the best of which falling to James Kember around the 40th minute which failed to test the keeper out. Again Wodson started the second half sloppy and conceded another weak goal just after the break. At this point the game looked out of reach and a huge uphill battle to get back into it let alone grab a victory. But in the 62nd minute a great ball dinked in from Will Sadler (making his debut for the club) was met by team Captain Paul Coates who rose up like a salmon out of water and headed the ball into the back of the net with the tightest of angles…. and the comeback was on!
